I have this theory na galing sa Gunbound yung SS na isinisigaw ngayon ng moba players.
I think SS is widely used now in most online games na mayroong ultimate skill ang isang character. Ultimate skill meaning pinakamalakas/pinakahuli na skill.
Ang salitang ultimate ay huli/last. Most often, ang most powerful skill ng character ay nasa dulo ng UI/HUD kaya napagkakamalang pinaka/malakas/malupit ang ibig sabihin ng ultimate.
I first encountered SS sa Gunbound nung 2003, which literally uses the term SS as the ultimate skill ng isang mobile (sasakyan). It just means Special Shot which is the shot of a mobile that does the highest possible damage in the game.
Gunbound was pretty popular back then. Dota was too. Most computer shops (internet cafés) had these two popular games installed on their PCs.
Mula sa Gunbound, some players switching to different games would be using the term (SS) as a substitute to an ultimate skill or a character’s most powerful skill. Dota has this (each hero in Dota has an ultimate skill), and now, most moba games.
Dota was also first released around 2003 so yeah, Gunbound players playing Dota would be shouting, “SS!” if they wanted you to use your hero’s ultimate/last skill. This habit will then be picked up by other players who never even played Gunbound.
An alternate alternate term Ult/Ulti (short for Ultimate (skill)) is also used by players similarly meaning, well, the character’s most powerful skill.
